Collaborative website which allows multiple authors to work together to create, edit and comment on the content. No technical knowledge of website construction is required.
Suggested Curriculum Applications:
§Great for group work – a class or group can create a wiki for any project on any subject
Each student can have their own page on the class/group wiki including text, images, links etc.
Teacher can track who has made additions and changes
Students are able to view and comment on their classmate's work providing peer feedback
Roadtested by:
SHIEL with Year 9 English class
Students approached the task with enthusiasm and were keen to view and comment on other class member's work.

Registration requirements/To use:
To register for and create a wiki, require:
Useranme, password and email address.
To add students to the wiki, need to allocate a userrname and password to each student
Pitfalls:
It is possible for class members to edit each others page. As a teacher administrator for the wiki, you are able to see who modified each page.
Student comments need to be monitored by the teacher.

Go to www.wikispaces.com
Click "create your own classroom wiki today" to access the free wiki offer for educators
Enter:
Username
Password
email address
Make a wiki: YES
Give your wiki a name
Wiki Permissions: MUST select "Private (free fro educators) and tick to certify Educational use
Select new page from the left hand menu
Enter text as required.
Use the Editor bar at the top to: Bold, Italics, underline and change font size,style and colour
Add numbered or dot pointed lists and horizontal lines Links may be added to other pages in the wiki or external websites
Images and files may be linked to or embedded in the page Widgets provide the opportunity to embed a variety of media into the page e.g. video clips, webpages etc

When done and at regular intervals while editng SAVE

Go to Managing Wiki (left hand menu) - People - User Creator - follow instructions
To change the appearnace of the wiki:
GO to Manage Wiki - Settings - Look and feel
To add pages to the left hand menu:
Go to Edit Navigation at the bottom of the menu and edit as for other pages.
Use Link to create links to the pages you have created e.g. each of the student pages
To check who has updated the pages:
Go to Manage Wiki - Content
